SeniorFlow Moment – My Changing Attitude About “Studies”

·

·

Most of you who have been reading this blog for a while know that I have a jaded view about academic and medical “Studies” and how they are used to convince people of the accuracy of the author’s particular academic or medical viewpoint or opinion.

In fact, I usually put quote marks around the word “study” or “studies” in my own writing on a given subject. I still hold the view that many of these “studies” are conducted to confirm a thesis rather than to find an answer.

But that is changing. I am beginning to believe in the quality and accuracy of many of the published Medical studies (academic “studies” are a matter unto themselves). I have spoken to enough medical and health professionals about the accuracy of the studies they rely on, that I am becoming convinced that most of the studies are not PR documents for the benefit of the author. Most of them really mean something.

This is particularly true as it relates to studies of health and aging. There are many new medical possibilities for Seniors coming up in the next several years and studies are ongoing to confirm their usefulness. Many recent books have been written by medical professionals and non-professional observers who are willing to put their own reputations on the line to get their messages “out there”. Books by people like James Nestor about breathing or Tony Robbins new book Life Force are citing study after study and interviewing the professionals involved, giving life to those studies that I have been so leery of.

Watching Ted Talks and You Tube conversations with the principles involved in the various fields related to Health, Fitness and Aging, has given me a new attitude on the validity of medical studies.

For the record, I will still research the topic of any study I cite in these pages and make up my own mind as to the validity of the study as it may relate specifically to the topic at hand.

So, from now on, no more quotation marks around the term studies when I refer to them in an article.

Quite frankly, studies on Health and Aging are showing the tremendous possibilities of living a longer and more healthy life and with the ENERGY to enjoy that longer life to the fullest. Clinical trials are being, or have been conducted on the most promising of these and what seem like medical miracles for Seniors may be showing up sooner than later.

That’s a SeniorFlow Moment. Thank you for reading.
