What is the special relationship between Health, Fitness, Personal Energy, and Flow?, The entire point of these posts is about YOU, an active Senior, living in the Flow of a Healthy, Fit, and High Energy Life, regardless of your chronological age.
I have used the term, the Flow of Life many times in these messages, including many of the more than 400 “Energy Bites” that preceded these SeniorFlow Moments. I’ll answer that question here starting with some definitions:
Health: a) Absence of illness, b) All systems “go”, and c) Natural state of men and women. “Your Health — ignore it and it will go away.”
Fitness: A state where your body is able to do the things your body is supposed to do, at any age, with energy left over. Fitness is fundamental to the Flow of Life.
Flow: “A state of consciousness whereby an individual performing an activity is immersed in a feeling of energized hyperfocus, full involvement, and enjoyment of the activity.” —I believe that quote is by Mihaly Csikszentmihaly (say that 10 times fast). I would add: “Regardless of your age.”
The purpose of these SeniorFlow Moments is to provide you with the tools, training, thoughts, ideas and commentary, to enhance your ability to participate in that Flow State, with the Sound Mind and Body that is promised by the Universe as your birthright.
You’ll be getting relevant articles, as well as some “Chalk talk” style “whiteboard” videos, based on health, fitness, personal energy and flow for active Seniors. These articles and videos will be raw and will be relevant to YOUR Body’s Health and Fitness, and your Mind in an attitude of agelessness.
By the way, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (see above) is called the “Father of Flow”. His book Flow, The Psychology of Optimal Experience, published in 1990, set the standard for conversations on the Flow State throughout the world. His name is pronounced “Chick sent me high”. Whenever his name comes up in these SeniorFlow Moments, I will refer to him as “Mihaly Cz”. Otherwise, my fingers on the keyboard get confused.
About Fitness and Flow, he said:
“If the functions of the body are left to atrophy, the quality of life becomes merely adequate and for some, even dismal. But if one takes control of what the body can do, and learns to impose order on physical sensations, entropy yields to a sense of enjoyable harmony in consciousness.”
That’s the essence of the relationship between Health, Fitness and the Personal Energy involved in living in the Flow of Life.
